About

What is Dyslexia & SPLD?

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty (SPLD). This is an umbrella term that is often used in schools to describe difficulties in certain skills. It is different from General Learning Difficulties, a term used to describe pupils with difficulties in all areas of learning. Many practitioners prefer the term “Specific Learning Difference” because it describes a pattern of strengths and weaknesses; there are often positives from having dyslexia as well as negatives.

Kayleigh, Mum of Frazer, Age 8

"I have cried - stupid as that may sounds. Thank you so much, your work is impeccable and it will make the world of difference to him for the remainder of his education and on going life, and the support and understanding people have of him. I can’t begin to express my appreciation. Those children who attend your school are so lucky to have such a incredible Senco let alone the children you do assesments for." Kayleigh, Mum of Frazer, age 8

Sophie Church, Mum of Daniel, Age 9

"Kate really put Daniel at ease, and really explained the process so well.  I can't recommend her highly enough!

Matt, Dad of Molly, age 14

“Thank you so much, this has been a very smooth process and now Molly has her diagnosis, not just for school but for the future. It has really helped Molly understand who she is and how her mind works.”
